Galvanised steel with a powder-coated finish — the same process used on cars. No plastic, no aluminium, no fabric mesh. The enclosure is a welded steel grid fixed to a steel frame. Nothing flexes. Nothing gives way. It is built to last well over 10 years outdoors.
Plastic warps in heat and becomes brittle in cold. Aluminium bends under load. Mesh tears. Steel does none of these things. Our enclosure is a welded grid — structurally rated, weatherproof, and scratch-resistant. After installation, we recommend testing it yourself: push it, pull it, hang your full weight on it. If you are worried about breaking it, it is the wrong product. Ours won’t flinch.
The enclosure is rated to 40 kg — which comfortably handles multiple large cats simultaneously. We test every unit at 70+ kg of dynamic human load — that means jumping, pulling, and hanging, not just sitting. A welded steel grid does not have weak points the way clipped or screwed assemblies do.
Standard mesh is 5×5 cm, safe for cats from 4 months of age. For smaller breeds or younger cats, we offer a 2.5×2.5 cm mesh option on request. Note that finer mesh has a slight wave to it due to manufacturing — this is normal and does not affect safety or function.
Yes. We powder-coat in any RAL colour at no extra cost. Some custom colours add a small amount of production time — we will tell you in advance. Standard colours are faster.
Yes. A mosquito net panel is available as an add-on. It attaches to the outside of the enclosure with adhesive tape — insects stay out, airflow stays in.
Galvanised steel with powder coating does not rust or warp under normal outdoor conditions. We are confident in a 10+ year lifespan with zero maintenance beyond occasional cleaning. Generations of cats have used the same enclosure.
The BalconyCat enclosure is designed for casement windows — the kind that swing open. If you have a different window type, get in touch. Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly whether it works.
No. The enclosure is secured using steel corner brackets that grip around the window frame. No holes, no damage, no marks. It is fully safe to install in a rented flat, and fully removable when you move.
We provide a short video measuring guide — it takes about 3 minutes and requires nothing more than a standard tape measure. If you are unsure about anything, send us photos or a short video via WhatsApp. We check measurements for free before any order is placed.

The following are within normal production range and do not affect safety, function, or appearance over time: minor variation in wire shape, small paint imperfections (bubbles, slight roughness), and dimensional tolerance of ±5 mm.

The enclosure ships flat-packed to your door. European delivery is typically free. UK and US delivery is calculated per order. Delivery is invoiced separately at the time of dispatch. We will give you a clear delivery timeframe when you order.
We provide a full video installation guide. No professional installer is required. We recommend two people for installation — the enclosure is solid and approximately 15 kg, which is the point. Our team is on hand via WhatsApp or email throughout the process if you have any questions.
Yes. The enclosure disassembles for transport and can be reinstalled in a new window, provided the window type and dimensions are compatible. It leaves no marks and causes no damage to the original window frame.
Standard household cleaning products work fine. The powder-coated galvanised steel is rust-resistant and weatherproof. Over time, welding points may show minor surface oxidation — a quick wipe with a damp cloth handles it. Wing-nut fittings, if they ever show rust, are standard hardware available at any DIY store.
We are thorough about quality — but no manufacturing process is 100% perfect. We will replace or remake your enclosure if more than 5 mesh wires have detached from the frame, or if there is a defect that affects safety or usability. We respond fast and we make it right.
