The BalconyCat Window Enclosure: What It Is, What It Costs, and How to Order

BalconyCat custom steel window enclosure installed on an apartment casement window — handmade in Poland, bracket-mounted, no drilling required

You want a safe outdoor space for your cat at window level. We make exactly that. This post covers the product in full — what we build, why we build it the way we do, what it costs, what the ordering process looks like, and what you’ll have at the end of it.

What We Make

A BalconyCat window enclosure is a hand-welded steel cage that mounts to the outside of your window frame and extends outward — typically 40–60cm — giving your cat a secure, open-air space to sit in at window level. Your cat accesses it through the open window. Your window still opens and closes normally. You stop worrying. It is not a net. It is not a modular system. It is not plastic. It is a welded galvanised steel grid — the same structural category as security grilles, vehicle cages, and professional-grade enclosures — built to the exact dimensions of your window and finished in a powder-coated colour of your choice.

The Specification

Frame: galvanised steel square tube, welded at all joints. Mesh: welded steel wire, standard 5×5 cm (safe for cats over 4 months), fine 2.5×2.5 cm available on request for kittens or smaller breeds. Finish: powder-coated in your chosen RAL colour, any colour at no extra cost. Load capacity: 40 kg, tested with human dynamic load (70+ kg including jumping, pulling, hanging). Installation: steel corner brackets that grip the external window frame, no drilling, no damage to building fabric. Weight: approximately 15 kg depending on window size. Assembly: ships flat-packed, two people, video guide provided, typically 2 hours. Disassembly: fully removable, brackets leave no damage, packs flat for moving.

What Windows Does It Fit?

The enclosure is designed for casement windows — the kind that swing open on a side or top hinge. This includes the vast majority of standard European apartment windows. Tilt-and-turn windows: can be accommodated in most cases — contact us before ordering to confirm. Sash windows (slide up and down): not ideal for this product; get in touch and we’ll tell you honestly whether there’s a solution. If you’re not sure what type of window you have, send us a photo on WhatsApp and we’ll identify it for you.

What It Looks Like Installed

From the inside: your window frame with a cage extending outward. Your cat sits in the cage visible from the room. The window opens and closes normally around the enclosure. From the outside: a clean steel enclosure in your chosen colour, mounted flush to the window frame. From street level on a multi-storey building, it looks like a purposeful architectural addition — not a temporary fix. The powder coat finish is the same process used on car bodywork. It handles rain, sun, wind, and outdoor exposure without deteriorating. The colour stays.

What Colour Can I Choose?

Any RAL colour, at no extra cost. Most popular choices: RAL 7016 (anthracite grey), RAL 9005 (jet black), RAL 9003 (signal white), RAL 6005 (moss green). For standard production colours, lead time is unaffected. Some less common RAL codes require an additional 3–5 days for the powder coat batch — we’ll confirm in advance. If you want to match your window frame colour or your building’s exterior, tell us the colour or the RAL code and we’ll match it.

What Is Included in the Price

From €899, the price includes: the complete enclosure built to your measurements; all steel corner brackets and fixings; video measuring guide (3 minutes, one tape measure); video installation guide; direct support via WhatsApp and email throughout — before, during, and after installation; free delivery across most of Europe. The Ordering Process, Step by Step

Step 1: Contact us. Email or WhatsApp. Tell us about your window and your cat. We reply within 24 hours. Step 2: Measure your window. Watch the measuring video — 3 minutes, one tape measure. Or send us photos and we’ll guide you through it on WhatsApp. Step 3: Send us your measurements. We check every measurement before confirming. Step 4: We confirm the specification and price. You receive a confirmation of the exact enclosure dimensions, colour, mesh size, any add-ons, and the final price. You confirm. We build. Step 5: We build it. By hand, in Poland. Typically 2–4 weeks. Step 6: It ships to you. Flat-packed. Free across most of Europe. We’ll send you tracking when it dispatches. Step 7: You install it. Two people, 2 hours, no professional needed. Video guide. We’re on WhatsApp if you have questions during installation. Step 8: Your cat uses it. Every day. Possibly for fifteen years. You don’t think about it again.

The Most Common Questions We Get Before Ordering

“Will it fit my window?” If you have a casement window, almost certainly yes. Send us a photo if you’re uncertain. “What if I measure wrong?” Follow the video guide, and you won’t. Send us photos for review first and you definitely won’t. If something is wrong on our side when the enclosure arrives, we fix it. No arguments. “Can I really install it without a professional?” Yes. The brackets are designed to be installed by two people in one session. The most common question mid-installation is about bracket tightness — which we answer on WhatsApp in minutes. “Can I take it with me when I move?” Yes. Fully removable. No damage to the property. Packs flat. We can help you re-measure for a new window at the next flat. “How long will it last?” Galvanised steel with powder coating. We expect 15+ years in normal outdoor use. Multiple cats, daily use, outdoor weather — all handled without maintenance.

Send us a message. Tell us about your window. We’ll take it from there.
